On 11 June 1999, the Secretary-General
wrote to the President of the Security Council, Ambassador Baboucarr-Blaise
Ismaili Jagne (Gambia), advising that he has approved, as revised, the
Distribution Plan submitted by the Government of Iraq under the terms of
Security Council resolution 1242 adopted on 21 May 1999.
The total allocation for the humanitarian
programme is $3.004 billion with $915 million earmarked for food. The
other main allocations are $250 million for medicines and medical equipment;
$280 million for water and sanitation and $440 million for electricity plus
$300 million for oil spare parts.
