Empowering journalists across the Balkans to promote Digital Rights

During the week of September 25th 2023, eight journalists from across the Balkans gathered in Sarajevo to enhance their ability to promote and protect digital rights in the region. The trainings were organized by Association Balkan Investigative Reporting Regional Network as part of the UNDEF funded project working to combat disinformation and abuse online and promote freedom of expression.

Covering ten sessions, journalists appreciated the ‘real-world’ applicability of the sessions which covered topics such as the impact of digital rights on journalism, online safety when reporting on digital rights violations, fact-checking and verification, and multimedia storytelling with tools for investigative journalism.

Overall, this training continued to support BIRN’s long-term commitment to educating and empowering journalists across the Balkans to tackle these important topics and produce impactful stories, in order to contribute to the promotion of digital rights.
