The Deputy Secretary-General met with Rt. Hon Patricia Scotland QC, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth. They reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They agreed to enhance and institutionalize the partnership between the two organizations and expressed their intent for a Memorandum of Understanding to be concluded in the near future.
 
They decided to continue discussions on deepening their collaborative engagement in promoting governance and peace, women’s empowerment, health, climate change, and youth development, among other areas.
