Sustainability Week
As we pass the critical moment of the mid-point in implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, transforming our world should remain central to our ongoing efforts to achieve peace, prosperity, progress, and sustainability for all.
Now, as we set our attention on the Summit of the Future, sustainability for all is more than ever key to ensuring a prosperous and thriving future for present and future generations. We must also build on the momentum gained from the September 2023 SDG Summit, in pursuit of protecting the planet’s ecosystem and ensuring sustainable production and consumption in every facet of our human existence.
Sustainable transportation, infrastructure and energy are critical avenues to attain such a future. Sustainable industrial development and economic activity, including sustainable tourism and debt sustainability and equality, also merit our close focus in all our endeavours.
In this regard, the President of the General Assembly will convene the Sustainability Week from 15-19 April at UNHQ in New York. The Sustainability Week will include:
- A global stocktaking on sustainable energy, in accordance with General Assembly resolution A/RES/77/170.
- High-level thematic event on sustainable tourism, in accordance with General Assembly resolution A/RES/77/178.
- Informal dialogue on building global resilience and promoting sustainable development through infrastructure connectivity, in accordance with General Assembly resolution A/RES/77/282.
- A half-day high-level meeting on sustainable transport, in accordance with General Assembly resolution A/RES/77/286.
- A high-level thematic debate focussed on the importance of debt sustainability and socio-economic equality for all.
