UN GA President met with financial institutions in China

The President of the UN General Assembly Mr. Mogens Lykketoft met with senior officials from several key financial institutions during his visit to China in order to talk about the important role of both the private and the financial sector in connection with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The President had fruitful discussions with Mr. Pan Gongsheng, Deputy Governor of People’s Bank of China, with Mr. Jin Liqun, President in waiting of The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and with Mr. Yuan Li, Vice President of China Development Bank. China is currently discussing its next five-year economic plan for the country and both the government and the financial sector are aware of the need to advance green investments in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and to tackle climate change.
