The President of the General Assembly met with Ángel Gurría, Secretary General of the OECD, on March 29. The meeting followed up on the PGA’s visit to the OECD in Paris in December 2015. The OECD has – with its long standing experience in designing and measuring policy tools in areas like migration, water, combatting inequality – significant potential in assisting countries and the UN System in implementing the SDGs. Therefore, the OECD wants to work closer with the UN and will open a liaison office in New York soon.
