The President of the 72nd session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Miroslav Lajčák, met today with H.E. Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Morocco. The President of the General Assembly expressed appreciation for Morocco’s continued contributions to the United Nations, including through support to the peacekeeping operations.
He further noted that the global compact on safe, orderly and regular migration will be the first-ever comprehensive framework for international cooperation and governance on migration. He underscored that constructive engagement of countries from all regions of the world will be crucial to tackle migration issues.
The President of the General Assembly and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Morocco further exchanged views on sustaining peace and UN reform. They agreed that the UN is the only global platform to foster the creation of more peaceful, inclusive and prosperous societies.
