The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, had a coordination meeting with H.E. Mr. Joonkook Hwang, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations and the President of the Security Council for the month of June 2024.
Ambassador Hwang briefed the President on the programme of work of the Security Council during the Republic of Korea’s Presidency. He highlighted two signature events of the Presidency, focused on cybersecurity and on children and armed conflict. They also discussed the annual report of the Security Council for the year 2023, to be presented to the General Assembly in June 2024.
The Presidents of the two principal bodies of the United Nations agreed on the importance of continued coordination on matters of international peace and security.
