Husniyya Mammadova is Special Adviser to the President of the General Assembly for the Summit of the Future.

Previously, Husniyya Mammadova served as Deputy Chef de Cabinet for Economy and Energy and Team Leader for Sustainable Development in the Office of the President of the 77th session of the General Assembly.

A career Azerbaijani diplomat, previously, Ms. Mammadova was the Director of the Economic Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. She worked extensively on investment and trade promotion, regional transit transport cooperation and energy security. She also led on matters related to enhanced regional cooperation on digital connectivity, green growth and green energy.

Ms. Mammadova served twice at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Nations in New York. On her first posting, her portfolio included economic, finance and development issues.

In 2014, Ms. Mammadova returned to New York as Political Counsellor after serving two years as the Deputy Director of the Economic Cooperation Department. During her second term, she focused on the work of the UN Security Council. She also led Azerbaijan’s engagement on the work of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement in New York.

Ms. Mammadova holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbia University in New York.

She speaks Azerbaijani, English, Turkish and Russian.
