The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain.  The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for Bahrain’s hosting of the Summit of the Arab League. 

They discussed developments in the Middle East region, including the situation in Gaza.

The Secretary-General expressed the United Nations’ support for any initiative that would lead to a cease-fire in Gaza, as well as full humanitarian access and the release of hostages.  The Secretary-General also reiterated his support for efforts that would lead to a two-state solution. 

The Secretary-General also raised the situations in Sudan, Yemen and Syria.
