EUHR Solana condemns today’s violence in the Middle East
Summary |
June 11, 2003: Javier Solana, EU High Representative for CFSP, condemns today's violence in the Middle East (Brussels) |
Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, condemned with the strongest terms the terrorist attack perpetrated today in Jerusalem that led to another spiral of violence in the Middle East.
"I unreservedly condemn today's bus bombing in the centre of Jerusalem, which resulted in the death of innocent civilians as well as many injured. I offered my deepest condolences to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Mr Silvan Shalom, to whom I have just spoken, and extended them to the families of all the victims.
This latest attack has prompted another spiral of violence in the region, which seriously undermines the efforts to implement the Quartet Road Map. More than ever, everything should be done to restore calm and cease violence. This is the only path to peace."
