Middle East

  • On 8 March, to mark International Women’s Day, Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) celebrated the outstanding contribution of those helping to develop care and support for women affected by breast cancer in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT). MAP also reiterated the urgent need to overcome the challenges in Gaza through practical support and political action.
  • On 7 March, Addameer published a press release with recommendations on the “Arrest and Detention of Palestinian Women and Girls”.
  • On 5 March, the Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP), in partnership with Médecins du Monde (MDM) France, concluded a training for social workers from different organizations on “Brief Recovery for Trauma Survivors”.

North America

  • On 25 March, the Taub Center for Israel Studies at New York University (NYU) will host a conference on “Oslo: 25 Years Later”.
  • On 7 March, The Foundation for Middle East Peace in Washington, D.C., hosted Yehuda Shaul, founder and co-director of Breaking the Silence, and Rabbi Jill Jacobs, author and director of T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights, for a talk on “In the Crosshairs: Israeli Civil Society Under Threat”.
  • On 6 March, The Jerusalem Fund organized a talk with Elizabeth Campbell, Director of UNRWA’s Representative Office in Washington, D.C., on the impacts of the U.S. funding freeze on UNRWA operations.

Europe

  • On 21 March, the Palestinian Return Centre is organizing a meeting in the Houses of Parliament in London a meeting on “Forced Displacement in the Occupied Palestinian Territories”.
  • On 11 and 12 March, the Human Rights Watch Film Festival will be screening “Muhi – Generally Temporary” in London. The documentary tells the story of a young boy from Gaza with a life-threatening immune disorder who received treatment at an Israeli hospital, illustrating the challenges faced by patients in Gaza.
  • From 3 to 10 March, Northern Women for Palestine is organizing a series of events entitled “Women of Palestine – The Ongoing Nakba” for the International Women’s Day. The events will take place in various locations across the United Kingdom.

United Nations

  • On 8 March, UNRWA Commissioner-General Pierre Krähenbühl stressed that the fulfillment of the rights of women and girls was indivisible from the agency’s mandate to serve Palestine refugees and lies at the heart of its Dignity is Priceless international campaign. On 7 March, UNRWA reported that the Government of Japan was contributing US$ 23.5 million to support Palestine refugees.
