The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the United Nations resolutions on the cause of Palestine, including resolution A/C.4/77/L.12/Rev. 1 which requested the International Court of Justice to render an advisory opinion on the legal consequences arising from the ongoing violation by Israel of the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, its prolonged occupation of the Palestinian territory since 1967, including the City of Al-Quds, and the legal consequences that arise for all States and the United Nations from this status.

The OIC praised the stances of the states that contributed by sponsoring and supporting these resolutions in affirmation of their commitment to international law and in line with their historical positions based on the principles of truth, justice and peace. It emphasized that these resolutions are an expression of the commitment and support of the international community for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. It renewed its call to the international community to intensify efforts to establish the necessary mechanisms for the implementation and application of the United Nations resolutions leading to the end of the Israeli occupation, the realization of international justice, and the empowerment of the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate rights. This must include the right to return, the right to self-determination and the right to establish their independent state on the border of 4 June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
