About us

The Global Innovation and Data Analytics Service oversees the global innovation and data management initiatives of the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management. The Service also centralizes the Department’s IT architecture and coordinate related resources globally.
 

Our work

The Service facilitates the Department’s implementation of a vision and strategy of continuous modernization and improvement in all areas as well as integrated global management by optimizing the provision of high-quality services that are timely, cost-effective and sustainable.

The Service leads in developing innovation policies and guidelines as well as data management and data analytics initiatives and provide advice to business owners to ensure that the conference services data in the four duty stations is managed as a strategic asset across all pillars, in line with the principles set out in the Secretary-General's Data Strategy and the Department’s internal Data Strategy.

Ensuring compliance of strategic plans and their implementation with UN standards and policies, including accessibility of IT tools, cybersecurity, and scalability of services, including cloud hosting solutions is one of the roles of the Service.

The Service integrates the Business Analysis Section in New York which supports business automation specific to the conference management and conference servicing operations of the Secretariat, and the Global Technical Team in Vienna, which supports the Department's gProject information technology products into one team.
