Necessary amendments

The United Nations Conference to Consider Amendments to the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs was convened by the Secretary-General of the United Nations pursuant to resolution 1577 (L) of 20 May 1971 of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The Conference was held from 6-24 March 1972 in Geneva. The amendments made at the Conference to the 1961 Single Convention affected in particular the functioning of the International Narcotics Control Board. The Protocol amending the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs was adopted on 24 March 1972.
