Internal displacement: Maintaining the status quo is not an option
Following the release of its report, the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Panel on Internal Displacement has called on Governments, civil society, the international community and the private sector to step up collective action towards systematic changes to advance solutions for more than 55 million people displaced within their own countries.

Virtual Panel discussion on preventing internal displacement due to armed conflict/violence and disasters

The Panel, in collaboration with IFRC and ICRC, organized a discussion on the prevention of internal displacement due to armed conflict/violence and disasters with the aim to identify gaps in the actions of states, civil society and the international community in prevention, and highlight promising and scalable good practices and to make concrete recommendations for the Panel’s consideration.
Ensuring life-saving assistance and longer-term support to IDPs in the face of COVID-19

Already living in precarious conditions, the estimated 50 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the world now face heightened challenges due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The EU Delegation in Geneva together with the Secretariat of the UN Secretary-General's High-Level Panel on Internal Displacement convened a webinar on 4 June 2020, bringing together international perspectives and voices from the field, who highlighted the importance of protection, as well as humanitarian-development approaches in support of IDPs and host communities.
