The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) has a special programme to support LDCs, LLDCs and SIDS in taking advantage of ICTs for development and bridging the digital divide between these countries and hte rest of the world. The programme provides technical expertise and financial assistance to the LDCs to improve their development outcomes through leveraging the potential of ICT/broadband and telecommunications services. This includes concentrated assistance to develop rural infrastructure, build both institutional and human capacity, and to provide regulatory and market information and intelligence.
