The Impact Evaluation, Learning and Dissemination (PeaceFIELD) Programme

With generous funding from Germany, the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) Impact Evaluation, Learning and Dissemination (PeaceFIELD) programme launched in January 2021 to generate new rigorous evidence about the effectiveness of peacebuilding approaches utilized by the PBF, disseminate the evidence to policymakers, and build capacity to generate, manage and use future impact evaluation evidence. PeaceFIELD is organized around three pillars. First, developing evaluation capacity of United Nations Peacebuilding Fund stakeholders, partners, and staff. Second, conducting three impact evaluations of PBF interventions. Third, encouraging evidence-informed decision-making within the peacebuilding community via targeted policymaker engagement and dissemination of research findings.

PeaceFIELD’s three case studies are in the Darfur region of Sudan, the Mali/Niger border area and the Polochic River Valley in Guatemala. The programme is implemented in partnership with the German Federal Foreign Office, the UN Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO), the International Security and Development Center (ISDC), and the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie). Additional funding is provided by Global Affairs, Government of Canada. The first results from the case studies are expected to be disseminated in early 2023.
