Multistakeholder Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence​ 

AI brings enormous benefits to the digital era, but it can also significantly compromise the safety and agency of users worldwide. Enhanced multi-stakeholder efforts on global AI cooperation are needed to help build global capacity for the development and use of AI in a manner that is trustworthy, human rights-based, safe and sustainable, and promotes peace.

The multi-stakeholder High-level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence, initially proposed in 2020 as part of the Secretary-General’s Roadmap for Digital Cooperation (A/74/821), is now being formed to undertake analysis and advance recommendations for the international governance of artificial intelligence (AI).

Public call for nominations​

To draw on the world’s foremost expertise, and to ensure the Body’s geographically representative, gender-balanced, age-balanced and interdisciplinary composition, the UN Secretariat is hereby publishing a public call for nomination of experts to serve as members of the Body in their personal capacity, including self-nomination.​

Nominated experts should have leading, relevant expertise among the broad range of fields relevant to the governance of AI or domains of AI application, and may include present and former government experts, as well as experts from industry, civil society, and academia.​

Evaluation of nominees will be conducted on the basis of the nominee's suitability, capacity and willingness to contribute to the Advisory Body's overall objectives. Those nominees under consideration will be contacted directly.​

Call for Papers on Global AI Governance

In preparation for the first meeting of the Mulstistakeholder Advisory Body on AI, we issued a call for short papers (approximately 2000 words) on the following themes:

• Key Issues on Global AI Governance: studies and recommendations of important themes and priorities for the High-Level Advisory Board on AI, especially those that should specifically be addressed through global governance.
• Current Efforts in Global AI Governance: analyses covering bilateral, multilateral, and inter-regional initiatives, including different philosophical approaches, critical perspectives, and recommendations.
• Models in Global AI Governance: papers analysing existing models, or proposing new models, as well as surveys and analyses of other proposals are welcome.

We welcome a diversity of perspectives - from different groups, regions and approaches. The papers will be read by the planning committee and used as a background, with attribution, for the High-Level Advisory Board on AI.
