This sculpture is a gift from Cameroon. The title translates to, Mute player singing peace and harmony.  

The artist, Gedeon Mpando (1932 – 2013) was a Cameroonian architect, sculptor, and monument designer.  He was born in Yabassi, Cameroun and studied at the University of Fine Arts of Paris, specializing in Plastic Arts (Sculpture). In 1973, he returned to Cameroon to design national monuments alongside the French architect Engelbert Mveng. 

Cameroon became a member state of the United Nations on the 20th of September in 1960.
