The Outreach Programme on the transatlantic slave trade and slavery was established in 2006 with the adoption of United Nations General Assembly resolution 61/19. The Outreach Programme raises awareness of the history of the transatlantic slave trade and slavery, its impact on the modern world, and the slave trade’s legacy of racism, in order to encourage action to challenge racism, and build a world that is just in which all can live with dignity and in peace. Over the years the Programme has established a global network of partners and developed versatile initiatives including educational resources, professional development programmes,, panel discussions and exhibitions. |
