Victims' Rights Statement

The Victims' Rights Statement affirms the United Nations Secretary-General's policy of prioritizing the rights and dignity of victims in efforts to prevent and respond to sexual exploitation and abuse. This document brings together the well-established rights of victims set out in international human rights treaties and other instruments and United Nations strategies, policies, and commitments related to protection from exploitation and abuse. It is designed to inform victims of their rights and serve as guidance for anyone working for, or with, the United Nations and related personnel. The Statement was endorsed by the Secretary-General's High-level Steering Group on preventing sexual exploitation and abuse in 2023.

In addition to the United Nations official languages, colleagues and partners from around the world are making translations of the Statement available to the Office of the Victims' Rights Advocate. They will be included here as they become available.
